Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation School Programs and Resources for Educators

Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation offers a variety of environmental education initiatives to Hawaiʻi schools:

  • 'ĀINA In Schools is a farm to school program bringing nutrition education, garden-based learning, agricultural literacy and healthy food choices to Hawai‘i’s schools.
  • 3R's School Recycling Program empowers students to engage and educate their school community about the 3R’s (reduce-reuse-recycling) with in-class recycling, school-wide collection, recycling drives, waste audits and outreach events.
  • Plastic Free Schools provides educational resources, film screenings, beach clean-up kits and support to reduce single-use plastics on campuses and encourage plastic free behavioral change.
  • Kōkua Earth Action Program (KEAP) is an environmental service learning initiative that supports students and educators in pursuing their own stewardship projects with mini-grants and recognition.
    (Applications are being accepted now through March 1, 2013 for funding up to $200 per teacher or $1,000 per school.)
  • Environmental Education Field Trip Assistance Program  provides grants to bring students to outdoor sites where they can experience hands-on learning about Hawai’i’s natural environment.
