Liholiho Elementary Celebrates Food Day

New 'AINA school, Liholiho Elementary held a Food Day and Fitness Fair event in recognition of National Food Day and the Green Tables Initiative. Liholiho partnered with Les Dames d’Escoffier Hawaii Culinary Arts Organization, Punahou School, Hula Grill Waikiki, 12th Ave. Grill, Holoholo CSA Truck, and Pacifikool to organize the event. The entire student body, family members, and school staff were treated to tastings of healthy, locally grown food items, including green kale smoothies, painted lettuce with tomatoes and homemade dressing, ginger mint drink, and beef stew with a variety of root vegetables. Families also got moving with fitness activities such as relays, parachute games, long jumps, and aerobics dancing! Family outreach events are a great way to highlight a school’s celebration of fresh, local ingredients and an active lifestyle for healthier schools and communities in Hawai’i!
