Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaiʻi. KHF’s mission is to provide experiences that will enhance oneʻs appreciation for and understanding of the environment so they will be lifelong stewards of the earth.

OUR PROGRAMS

The 3R’s School Recycling Program empowers students to engage and educate their school community about the 3R’s (reduce-reuse-recycling).

Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation Field Trip Grants help bring students to outdoor sites where they can experience hands-on learning about Hawaiʻi’s environment.

Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation Project Grants fund projects and teachers from Hawaiʻi schools to assist in advancing their environmental goals in the classroom and pursue stewardship endeavors.

ʻĀINA In Schools is a farm to school initiative that connects children to their local land, waters, and food to grow a healthier Hawaiʻi.

Plastic Free Hawai‘i provides resources, tools, and trainings to educate schools, business partners, and community members about the environmental and health benefits of going plastic free to minimize single-use plastics in our islands.

The Youth Internship program provides on-farm training to build skills around agroecology, food production, soil health & culinary explorations.

Kōkua Learning Farm Field Trips in November!

Haleʻiwa Elementary School and the Kōkua Learning Farm are continuing to build pilina this fall semester with all students from all grade levels visiting the farm! In November, 3rd graders joined us for a morning of learning about compost, students fed our lateral flow worm bins and got hands-on about bokashi composting. Learn more

The Kōkua Learning Farm interns had the opportunity to harvest vegetables that they’ve cared for over the course of the internship and turn them into a delicious meal! A Taste of ‘ĀINA at the Kōkua Learning Farm!

What a fun day! Yesterday we welcomed 50 teachers and educational assistants to the Kokua Learning Farm for a Professional Development Day themed “A Taste of ʻĀINA!” Teachers joined us in the ‘ĀINA Demonstration Gardens for flower harvest 🌸 & seed saving, harvested vermicompost 🪱 and learned about the ʻĀINA Food Guide by sampling poi smoothies.
