June 21, 2014 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: 102 Ohe Street, Honolulu, HI, United States

Join Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii at Point Panics in Kaka'ako as we bring you the first beach cleanup of the Summer. Start your Summer off right and increase your karma points which will lead to better waves, nicer tans, and new friends. In conjunction with Kokua Hawaii Foundation, Plastic Free Hawaii-Kokua Hawaii Foundation, BAMP Project, and The Republik, we will be focusing on ridding Kaka'ako Waterfront Park, Ala Moana Beach Park, and Waikiki Beach of land based debris. The south shore of Oahu is littered with an easily preventable type of trash, land based debris. This is trash that derived from the land and has not yet entered our waterways. This is the perfect opportunity to stop it before it gets mistaken for food by marine life or simply enters a life destined to the North Pacific Garbage Patch only to break down and wash back ashore somewhere in the Pacific. The Cleanup will feature 2 locations to choose from with buses leaving from Kaka'ako Waterfront Park to Ala Moana Beach Park at 10AM. We are encouraging families and keiki to clean at Ala Moana and everyone else to focus on Our Kaka‘ako. Check in at 9:30AM at Point Panic RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/721892427853536
