The Simplify the Holidays campaign--inspired by New Dream--encourages families to create green holiday practices that promote sharing, laughter, and creativity. Check out all of  Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation’s Simplify the Holidays resources for green holiday inspiration!

This year, Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation (KHF)  is celebrating Simplify the Holidays by presenting the ʻĀINA Cooking For Change Holiday Series with Terri Langley and hosting Pop-Ups at the ʻĀINA Farm Stand and Kokua General Store at our home in Haleʻiwa (more details below!)


‘ĀINA Cooking For Change - Holiday Workshops with Terri Langley

ʻĀINA Cooking for Change virtual family cooking workshops continue with a holiday flare! This December, we’re taking our Homemade for the Holidays workshop with master food preserver Terri Langley of BLISS Healthy Foods online. Learn how to simplify your holiday gift giving by creating edible gifts! Terri will be hosting two virtual cooking workshops on December 6 & 13:

Workshop 1: Sunday, December 6 
Refrigerator Pickles & Herbal & Citrus Salts 

Workshop 2: Sunday, December 13 
Sauerkraut & Kimchi

Register early for these workshops to secure a Cooking Kit featuring locally grown ingredients, donated by our friends at Chef Hui!  

'ĀINA Farm Stand & Kōkua General Store Pop-Up

This month come visit the Simplify the Holidays Pop-Ups at the ʻĀINA Farm Stand and Kokua General Store at Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation's new property in Haleʻiwa. The Pop-Ups will be on Saturday December 5, 12 and Friday December 18- Sunday December 20 from 11:00am-3:00pm. At the Pop-Up you will find: Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation Gift Membership & Donation Opportunities, ʻĀINA Garden Planting Kits, Plastic Free Hawai’i themed art, Plastic Free Hawai'i merchandise, updated displays to reflect current plans for the Hale’iwa property and more.

Updated Displays: KHF Staff will be sharing with the community updates on all projects happening at the new Kōkua Hale’iwa site with a special highlight on the Backyard Garden space. This space, created in partnership with WATG, will be a welcoming edible and native landscape where the community can come to learn and draw inspiration to cultivate household food production and composting skills.

Gift Membership & Donation Opportunities: Learn how to become a member or donate on behalf of a loved one this holiday season to support the Kōkua Learning Farm, Backyard Garden and other future projects at our new Haleʻiwa home.

ʻĀINA Planting Kits

 The ʻĀINA team has created four different ʻĀINA Planting Kits to accompany ʻĀINA In Schools Garden Units. Give the gift that keeps on giving:

ʻĀINA Butterfly Garden Kit - A selection of flower seeds and garden tools

ʻĀINA Good Buddy Garden Kit - Companion plant starters, seeds and garden tools

ʻĀINA Hawaiian Garden Kit - Ti leaf cutting, native Hawaiian plant cutting and garden tools

ʻĀINA Three Sisters Garden Kit - Corn, bean & squash seeds and garden tools 

Plastic Free Hawai’i Art Show

This art show will feature beautiful, thought provoking art utilizing collected marine debris. Each piece is unique and sheds a different light on the plastic pollution crisis. The gallery features art from Ethan Estess, Mark Cunningham, Jennifer Johnson and Stacey Garmshausen. Give the gift  of art this holiday season! A portion of proceeds will be donated back to KHF. A big mahalo to the four artists who contributed their work and use their art to educate and inspire!

Kōkua General Store - locally made eco-holiday gifts: A small sneak peek of what’s to come in the Kōkua General Store space! Help a loved one reduce their waste by gifting a low-waste lifestyle product like UNpaper towels,  Shampoo or Conditioner Bars and more! 

Kōkua Vintage Goods- A selection of secondhand goods to get the community excited about the future Kōkua Vintage space! Give the gift of a preloved item this holiday season to reduce the demand for new.

Plastic Free Hawai’i Reusables: Give a loved one the tools they need to reduce single-use plastics in their life. Check out KHF’s Plastic Free Hawai’i Merchandise for some ideas on what to expect at the Pop-Up. Perfect stocking stuffers!
