3R’s School Recycling Drive

October 04, 2021

Last month, the 3Rs Recycling Program successfully hosted 2 recycling drives at Sunset Beach Elementary School and The Hawaiʻi School for the Deaf and Blind. Over 25,000 pounds of electronics, household goods, furniture, scrap metal, and cooking oil combined were rescued and diverted from the waste stream. A very special mahalo to Jennifer Milholen, our Waste Reduction Coordinator who is moving on from Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation to be a composting consultant! We wish Jenn all the best. Lisa Jeffers-Fabro will follow in her footsteps as our new Waste Reduction Coordinator, coordinating the 3Rs School Recycling Drives and the 3Rs School Program, in addition to assisting with the Plastic Free Hawaiʻi Program.

Join us for three 3Rs School Recycling Drives in October:

Saturday October 2, 2021: Salt Lake Elementary School (Salt Lake, 9am to 11am)

&

Saturday October 23, 2021: Waialua Elementary School  (Waialua, 9am to 11am)

&

Saturday October 30, 2021: Waipahu Elementary School (Waipahu, 9am to 11am)

Reach out to [email protected] if your school is interested in participating in the 3Rs School Program. One of the rewards for 3Rs Participating Schools is the ability to host a 3Rs School Recycling Drive where you can raise funds AND reduce waste!
