ʻĀINA Chef Visits

Mahalo to our partner chefs for sharing their passion for cooking healthy with locally sourced ingredients during the month of April with ʻĀINA Chef Visits! These talented chefs provided 613 students the experience of seeing ingredients locally sourced and oftentimes from their very own school garden turned into a healthy snack or meal. Our ‘ĀINA Chef partners shared an abundance of creativity and flavors that were a hit with the students!

 

  • ʻĀhuimanu Elementary: Chef Haley Miyaoka, Ahiki Acres, made Beet Hummus with 2nd grade

  • Lāʻie Elementary: Chef Willie Barrera, Iwa Eats, made ʻUala Poke with 6th graders

  • Liholiho Elementary: Chef Chris Fujimoto repping Sumida Farm, prepared Watercress & Blistered Tomato Bruschetta on Crostini with 2nd graders.

  • Kahala Elementary: Chef Kai Cowell, Kaiulani Spices, made Curry Fried Rice with Cranberries with 4th graders.

  • Keolu Elementary: Gabriel Huang and Emily Yount from Full Circle Wellness Hi had students from every grade level wrapping their own vegetarian spring rolls.

  • Sunset Beach Elementary: Chef Susan Prior and Willie Barrera, Jr from The Country Eatery, shared the table with 2nd and 6th graders making ‘Uala Hummus with fresh Veggies.

Waiʻalae Public Charter:  Chef Tiffanie Masutani, KCC Culinary Academy of the Pacific, Green Bean “Fries” with Greek Yogurt Dipping sauce with the 2nd grade.
