ʻĀINA Educator Training

The 2nd ‘ĀINA in Schools Educator Training of the school year was held on Saturday, October 13th at the Kōkua Learning Farm. A total of 19 ‘ĀINA teachers and parent volunteers represented 12 participating ‘ĀINA schools  for a day of hands-on teachings. Highlights of the day included a heart-warming opening circle, making butter and Three Sisters Stew, creating flower bouquets and pūʻolu, learning how to save seeds, and diving into bokashi compost systems. The day ended with hands-on Nutrition Education activities, allowing teachers to take the place of their students in a local vs. imported banana taste test which ties in to the Gr.2 and Gr.6 Nutrition Lesson Food Choices for Your Environment. Mahalo to all our wonderful educators who joined us for a day of laughs, learning, and team building. We are so lucky to have an amazing network of educators bringing ʻāina-based and farm to school education to our keiki. Reminder to check out our Vimeo page to watch all of our ʻĀINA Videos which complement the ʻĀINA In Schools curriculum!
