ʻĀINA Garden Club Highlight
April 03, 2019
At several of our ʻĀINA Schools, ʻāina and garden-based education reaches beyond the classroom into clubs and special projects. At Kaʻōhao Elementary a group of 6th graders is testing the effect of different grades of compost produced by the Windward Zero Waste Hui on the growth of kalo. Students at Mililani Uka just celebrated their final garden club meeting before spring break with pollinator-themed healthy snacks! Garden Club students at Haleʻiwa Elementary rotate between helping to care for their campus greenery and waiting for their carrots and kabocha to be ready to harvest. Mahalo to the teachers and support staff that believe in this programming and help in reinforcing the importance of ʻāina outside of the classroom!
