ʻĀINA In Schools
Preparing a garden for planting can be a daunting task! Now, because of COVID disruptions over the past two school years, several of our garden teachers have had even more work to do. Tara, the ʻĀINA Lead Teacher at Kahala Elementary, has brought the school community together for after-hours garden parties several times in the last month to pull weeds, sift soil, and repair the irrigation to get this outdoor classroom ready for students. Check out the incredible transformation from turf farm to outdoor classroom in the photos above!
ʻĀINA Lead Teachers and Classroom Teachers are teaching ʻĀINA Lessons at 17 ʻĀINA Schools across Oʻahu under the new ʻĀINA program models. Students are so happy to be back on campus, planting and tending their gardens, and exploring a variety of foods in their nutrition lessons.
