ʻĀINA In Schools

September 01, 2022

Curriculum Training for Educators

ʻOn August 13th, we welcomed 25 educators from 14 Oʻahu schools for our first ʻĀINA Curriculum Training on the Kōkua Learning Farm! The training included hands-on rotations on the ʻĀINA In Schools Garden, Compost, and Nutrition lessons, tips on working with students in the garden, and more! Mahalo to all our wonderful teachers who joined us for a day of laughs, learning, and team building. We look forward to working with these educators during the upcoming school year to bring ʻāina-based and farm to school education to our keiki. Reminder to check out our Vimeo page to watch all of our ʻĀINA Videos which complement the ʻĀINA In Schools curriculum!

ʻĀINA In Schools Garden Prep

ʻĀINA Schools are getting their gardens prepared for the upcoming school year! To prep, schools host ʻĀINA Garden Parties, which include removing summer cover crops, weeding garden beds, topping beds with soil, and other activities like painting compost buckets for classrooms and harvesting vermicast to amend the garden beds. Special shoutout to all of the staff, teachers, parents, and keiki who host and participate in ʻĀINA Garden Parties to bring ʻĀINA Garden-Based Learning Lessons to their schools!
