ʻĀINA In Schools Updates

ʻĀINA Chef Visits - In celebration of Earth Month, Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation has provided the opportunity for participating ʻĀINA Schools to learn and cook with a local chef through the ‘ĀINA In Schools Agricultural Literacy Component. These ʻĀINA Chef Visits serve as an introduction to students as to where their food comes from and how to prepare healthy “close to the source” meals and snacks from local produce that they may be growing in their school gardens or at home. These experiences also give students an introduction to career pathways in agriculture and the culinary arts as students work alongside the Chefs to prepare a kid friendly, healthy snack with locally sourced ingredients. Some of our delicious recipe creations included Kale Salad with a Miso Ginger Vinaigrette with Chef Sean Congdon, Apple Banana Pudding with a Banana Bread Topping with Chef Terri Langley and Fresh Farm Salsa with Chef Susan Prior. Mahalo to all of our Chef partners for providing this experience to the keiki!
