The ʻĀINA team has been on the road supporting garden educators on Hawaiʻi Island. A group of FoodCorps Service Members and teachers met at the Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hāmākua to get hands-on experience with the ʻĀINA In Schools curriculum. Throughout the day participants practiced bokashi composting, visited the Honokaʻa Elementary School gardens, and shared resources to support garden programs at schools from Kona to Kaʻu. Lunch was a highlight for this group as we sampled several healthy snacks from the ʻĀINA Nutrition Lessons that are easy to prepare with students including a favorite Corn and Black Bean Salsa
from the body-building food group. Join us in wishing all of our Hawaiʻi Island participants a productive year of gardening and cooking with keiki!
