ʻAikahi Elementary Creates Outdoor Learning Spaces
September 02, 2020
ʻĀINA School ʻAikahi Elementary with the cooperation of parents, and outside organizations created three beautiful outdoor learning areas for their students. Principal Fraser looks forward to ʻĀINA Lessons taking place in this outdoor learning space. With the help of a school parent who is an ʻĀINA Docent and a professional artist, the painted backdrop of the ʻĀINA outdoor classroom space will be inspired by the ʻĀINA In Schools Gr. 4 Hawaiian Garden Curriculum plantings including kalo and ʻuala.
‘Aikahi Principal Keoki Fraser says, “Now more than ever we need the ‘ĀINA In School’s program for our keiki… getting them outdoors more, nutritional education especially against the backdrop of a pandemic, and curriculum cuts in schools, I’d like us to work together to make this safely happen for our school and inspire other schools to do something similar.” See how ʻAikahiʻs outdoor learning spaces were featured in the national news.
