ʻAina Pono Farm to School Showcase at the Capitol
July 30, 2018
Earlier this month, farmers, legislators, non-profits and other partners gathered at the Capitol for the 'Aina Pono Farm to School Showcase. The event featured Hawaiʻi grown and raised produce and protein and the results of market research featured pathways for getting that produce into schools. An initiative of ‘Aina Pono, a statewide Farm to School program, the event aimed to celebrate agricultural initiatives happening throughout Hawaiʻi, and to generate a discussion on how the community can get more food into school cafeterias. With the help of Ho Farms , Mana Ai, Kōkua Market, and Down to Earth, the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation team featured a bounty of cucumbers, tomatoes, kalo, ʻulu, tangelos, and pineapple to highlight the best of the summer season. A big mahalo to all of the hard-working farmers who took time out of their day to join the conversation and grow a healthier future for Hawaiʻi’s keiki.
