May brought to a close our last Aloha ʻĀina Recycling Drives of the 2018-2019 School Year. Big props to Moanalua Middle School for braving torrential downpour and soggy volunteers to pull off a great event, recovering nearly 10,000 pounds of scrap metal, electronics, batteries, household items, and HI-5 cans and bottles! A special shout out to Kahaluʻu Elementary who hosted our last Drive of the year with only 4 days notice after a cancellation. In spite of the short time frame, 7 dedicated staff and students came out to help and hosted a very successful event! Kahaluʻu was able to rescue over 8,000 lbs of materials from disposal for reuse and recycling!
Keep your eyes peeled for the 2019-2020 Aloha ʻĀina Recycling Drive dates! We are building the schedule as we speak, and look forward to another awesome year of AARDs where we help rescue nearly 150,000 cumulative pounds of materials from disposal!
