Back To School Clothing Swap- Saturday, August 5 in the Kōkua General Store

We are hosting another Clothing Swap! Join us in the Kōkua General Store on Saturday, August 5th from 10am-3pm to find some ʻnewʻ preloved clothing gems. Swap out your gently-used, washed clothes and find your new favorite piece of clothing. We are making this swap Back to School themed so please bring gently-used backpacks and items needed for school!

1. When and where do I bring my clothes to swap?

a. To participate, bring your clothing items to the Kōkua General Store between Friday July 28- Friday August 4 during our regular store hours. When dropping off your clothes you will receive a ticket to participate the day of the event.

Drop Off: 66-249 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712

Wednesday-Thursday, 11am-5pm

Friday-Saturday 10am-3pm

2. Can I bring clothes the day of the event?

a. We will not allow clothes to be dropped off during the day of the event, as setup and organization needs to happen in advance. Mahalo for your understanding!

3. How many clothes can I swap?

a. You can bring as many clothing as you want to the swap but you can only take a maximum of 8 items! 

4. Can I take more than 8 items?

a. We respectfully ask that you only take a maximum of 8 items. This is a community event, and we want to ensure that everyone who participates has the opportunity to find something they love.

5. What kinds of clothes can I swap?

a. We are accepting washed, gently-used, clothing in good condition. If you have gently-used backpacks or school related items, please bring them! We will have a back-to-school section of the clothing swap.

We are not accpeting unwashed/poor-condition items, athletic wear, accessories, shoes, undergarments, or swimwear.

Examples: Dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, sweaters, jackets, blouses, backpacks, binders, folders, empty notebooks etc.

6. What about kids and mens clothing?

a. Yes! We are accepting both kids and mens clothing. 

7. What if I have very nice, vintage items? 

a. We would glady accpet donations of your nice, vintage items that we could sell in the Kōkua Vintage section of the store! 

8. Can I try on clothes at the swap?

a. Yes, space is limited, but we have two fitting rooms available in the store.

9. What happens to the leftover clothes?

a. Clothes not swapped will be added to the Kōkua Vintage $5 bin or added to the Kōkua Vintage racks, with 100% of proceeds going to support Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation! Other clothes will be donated to our local shelter or Goodwill, our 3Rs Drive Household Goods Parnter. 

10. Why is it a “back to school” clothing swap?
There will be a section of back to school clothing and sporting goods for the upcoming school year!
