It’s not too late! Sign up to join an ‘ĀINA In Schools
Docent Team to lead or assist nutrition, garden, or compost lessons, or support a school by attending a fall Garden Party work day. ʻĀINA docents lead monthly hands-on, standards-based garden lessons for grades K, 1, 4, and 5; compost lessons for grade 3; and nutrition lessons for grades 2 and 6 at our ʻĀINA partner schools. No experience? No problem! Nutrition lesson training is coming up (see dates below). Garden training dates have passed, but your docent team will be happy to help! So don’t hesitate - join us in educating the next generation about ways to make healthy food choices, compost their waste, and grow their own food at schools all over Oʻahu.
Take a look at what our dedicated volunteers are saying about their experiences:
I really enjoyed being a part of my child’s school life, getting to know the teachers and classmates, learning about Hawaiian native plants, and passing along my passion for nutrition to the students through the ʻĀINA curriculum. - Laie Grs. 2 & 4 Parent
It was amazing to see the kids experience the garden over time - their awe when viewing the pollinators, growth of their seeds into plants, harvesting and tasting… all of it! - ʻĀikahi Gr. 1 Parent
