Kōkua General Store April Events
April 1: Spring Clothing Swap- It’s time to do some spring cleaning by reorganizing our closets and upcycling forgotten clothes! Join us for our next clothing Swap, 4/1, to take an active part in reducing fashion related waste by updating your wardrobe with “new” pre-loved fashion. Please drop off your pre-loved clothing from March 29th-March 31st during regular store hours. Some examples of swappable items include, dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, shirts, aloha wear, sweaters, jackets, and blouses. Learn more here.
April 8: Basic Mending Workshop with Paula Burgess- Join us in the Kōkua General Store on Saturday, April 8th, 2023 for a simple mending workshop with seamstress Paula Burgess. Bring a garment that needs a basic repair and give them a prolonged life! Please click the link below to register as spots are limited. Ages 12 and up are allowed to participate.
April 22: Plastic Free Mural Art Exhibit & Vendor Pop-up We will be celebrating Earth Day in the Kōkua General Store with activity tables hosted by some of our Hawaiʻi Makers. Join us for origami with Bee’s Cotton Wrap, manicures with Kapa Nui Nails’ non-toxic nail polishes, and making art from “trash” with Upcycle Hawaiʻi! We will also have a natural ink maker, Kamaka of Nā Waihoʻoluʻu Project, who will be demonstrating how to paint with natural inks. All Members who participate in the Members-Only Kōkua Learning Farm Workday will receive a special gift in the store.
April 29: Radio Hula Pop-up- Get ready for Lei Day with us! We will be hosting Radio Hula Vintage for a pop-up where you can find curated, one-of-a-kind vintage aloha fashion for a summer wardrobe update!
