Kōkua Learning Farm Update
April 01, 2021
We are so grateful that the Kōkua Learning Farm avoided damage during the heavy rains in Haleʻiwa throughout the past month. Huge mahalo to the small groups of community volunteers, Patagonia Haleʻiwa, Honolulu and Japan employees, and high school students from Kahuku High School, Waialua High School, and Myron B. Thompson Academy, who have come out to help drain our fields and manage the weeds that have sprung up in the last week. Despite the muddy conditions, weʻve managed to harvest over 50 pounds of ʻōlena, planted a trial row of seed garlic, and started another few rounds of vegetables in our nursery that will be able to go into the ground as soon as our next few rows are prepared! If youʻd like to see what weʻve been up to, register for an upcoming community workday via this link!
