Kōkua Learning Farm Workdays - Volunteer With Us!
Kōkua Learning Farm Workdays
April was full of volunteer workdays on the Kōkua Learning Farm! We started the month with our Community Workday where volunteers helped us tend to the Fruit Tree Orchard. The Kawamoto ʻohana group joined us for a morning of Kalo Library weeding, amending and planting. The UH Institute of Sustainability and Resilience (ISR) students have partnered with us for their capstone projects, researching soil diversity and more! Major weeding was accomplished by the Army 84th EN BN around our loʻi and constructed wetlands. Mahalo to the Navy families who helped us weed around the native Hawaiian plants in our Backyard Garden area. Chaminade Service Learning students joined Patagonia’s monthly workday to weed our native wetland plants. And we had KHF Members join us on Earth Day to care for our bioswales and plant our veggie rows! We wrapped up the month with Highgate who came out for an employee workday and helped us to plant hau along the farm’s borders. Mahalo everyone for all your help caring and maintaining the Kōkua Learning Farm!
