Kōkua Learning Farm Youth Internship A Hui Hou Spring Interns, E Komo Mai Summer Interns!
June 02, 2022
Mahalo nui to our Spring 2022 Youth Interns! These keiki dedicated 15 weeks of their time and hard work this past semester to exploring and learning about sustainable agriculture methods and implementing them through various projects to grow and develop the farm. We celebrated with our interns and their families at our Spring Ho’ike and shared a farm to table meal that the interns grew and prepared themselves!
The Kokūa Learning Farm is hosting another Youth Internship this summer. Youth interns will learn about the importance of appreciating and caring for our natural resources, growing healthy food and understanding the importance of sustainability. The Kokūa Learning Farm is a multi-faceted learning environment where youth interns will immerse themselves in outdoor learning areas including bio-diverse gardens, crop fields, plant nursery, composting zone, constructing wetlands for diverse species of native plants and animals, expanding our loʻi and more! This youth internship will also offer support in designing and maintaining a backyard or community garden.
Interns will meet on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3-5pm, June 6 to July 13 at the Kōkua Learning Farm in Haleʻiwa. The program is open to students from Wahiawā to Kahuku entering grades 7-12 and graduating seniors from Leilehua HS, Waialua HIS, and Kahuku HIS. Private and homeschool students from these areas are also encouraged to apply. Students from outside these areas will be added to a waitlist.
