May Workday Fun at the Kōkua Learning Farm!
June 01, 2021
In May we welcomed our amazing community members to weekly workdays at the Kōkua Learning Farm! Mahalo to all who participated. If you are interested in joining us at the farm for a workday, please use this form. Our June Community Workday is full, so please sign up for our next open Community Workday on Saturday, July 3!
May 1- Community Workday. The first Saturday of the month brought out folks from all over the island to pull weeds, lay mulch, and start seeds in our newly expanded nursery.
May 8- WATG Workday. Our friends from WATG came out and worked in the loʻi, dug out California grass, and planted a variety of native plants in the Backyard Garden.
May 15- Patagonia Workday. Our Patagonia volunteers got a lot of work done including collecting ʻōpala and rocks from our newly tilled plot.
May 22- Community Workday. This small but mighty group helped build a new compost pile and plant okra!
May 27- Waimea Valley Workday. We finished up the month by welcoming staff from Waimea Valley for our first community trade workday. Alongside Waimea Valley staff we prepped vegetable rows, weeded, harvested and cooked veggies for lunch! Waimea Valley will host KHF staff next month for a day of learning and mālama ‘āina in the valley—we canʻt wait!
