Our Plastic Free Hawaiʻi intern Chrisitian Robbins recently attended Parley for the Ocean’s Ocean Uprise, a week-long youth summit for teens from across the globe. Held at Kawela Bay on the North Shore of Oʻahu, the youth summit was an entirely waste-free camping experience encouraging teens to brainstorm solutions to the global plastic pollution problem. Attendees were also treated to educational talk-stories from Hawaiʻi-based environemntalists such as surfing scientist Cliff Kapono, Ph.D., pro surfer Kai Lenny, waterwoman Kimi Werner, and keynote speaker Nainoa Thompson of Polynesian Voyaging Society.
