PFH Beach Cleanup: International Coastal Cleanup Day 2017
August 31, 2017
Our next large-scale beach cleanup is on Saturday September 16th, from 8:30-11:00am for International Coastal Cleanup Day. We will host our main cleanup at James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge in Kahuku (off of Mile Marker 14), and a second location will be hosted at Kailua Beach Park.
This cleanup will feature the Great Sunscreen Trade-In, where all attendees can trade-in their chemical sunscreens for a free sample of natural, reef safe sunscreen provided by Raw Elements USA. To identify if your sunscreen contains reef-harming chemicals, look for “oxybenzone” in the active ingredients. If it does, then you can bring it in to trade in for samples of natural sunscreen. More details on the event here.
Mahalo to our partners at Kailua Beach Adventures, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi, and 808 Cleanups for supporting our cleanups. Bee’s Wrap is donating plastic free food storage wraps for all volunteers who join us at any of our locations on this day.
