Plastic Free Hawaiʻi
July 02, 2019
June was a busy month for Plastic Free Hawaiʻi, kicking off the summer with 25 plastic free events! The month began with the North Shore Ocean Fest at Turtle Bay where PFH water stations kept attendees hydrated and vendors sold delicious snacks, served plastic free. June 8th was World Oceans Day and Bloomingdale’s in Ala Moana celebrated with plastic free commitments at their Beauty and the Beach event. Ko Olina’s World Oceans Day Celebration hosted a free movie with PFH water stations on hand to refill guests’ reusable water bottles. We were excited to have Kailua Canoe Regatta and Dillingham’s Pony Club also choose to eliminate waste by using PFH water refill stations at their events. Keep up the great work!
With the summer’s warm days and long sunsets, families flocked outdoors to evening events such as Waikiki’s Sunset at the Beach outdoor movie screening, Honolulu Hale’s Mango Jam, Honolulu Zoo’s Wildest Show in Town concert series, and Queen Kapiolani Hotel’s Sunset Sessions, the hotel’s monthly live music series benefitting Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation. Mahalo to SurfJack Hotel & Swim Club for hosting Summer at the Swim Club, also benefiting KHF! Plastic free fun was had by all at these events!
