Punahou School 8th Grader Creates Local Recycling Guide
June 01, 2020
We also want to take this opportunity to brag about Esther Chan, a recent 8th grade Punahou School grad. Esther was inspired by a Plastic Free Hawaiʻi presentation and wanted to use her Girl Scout Silver Award project as an opportunity to educate Oʻahu on the right way to recycle, ensuring that as many materials as possible get recovered. Working with Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation and the C&C of Honolulu Recycling Branch, Esther put together a local recycling guide that focuses on reducing contamination. Putting the wrong items in the recycling bin actually creates more trash and less true recycling. We hope you’ll all check out Esther’s pamphlet to make sure you’re making the most of your recycling. Great job, Esther!
