Successful First Community Work Day at KHF Haleʻiwa Property!

January 07, 2020

Mahalo to the volunteers from all over Oʻahu who joined us at our first Community Workday in Haleʻiwa. Teams helped to clear debris, pull weeds, and remove a few invasive trees. Families worked together to propagate the indigenous ʻilieʻe (Plumbago zeylanica) a low sprawling shrub, and ʻaeʻae (Bacopa monnieri) ground cover from cuttings donated from Waimea Valley. These will be transplanted out as ground cover on the property at future workdays. Mahalo to Farm Link, a farmer-owned and operated online local food marketplace, for making sourcing of healthy, fresh, locally grown snacks for our volunteers so easy! The next KHF Community Workday will be on Saturday, February 1 from 9:00am-12:00pm and will continue on the 1st Saturdays of the month. Register via this link!
