Free UHCC Summer Classes for the High School Class of 2020
Hawaiʻi public high school graduates are invited to Next Steps: Career Exploration classes at one of the University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges (UHCC) this summer. UHCC is offering free summer classes in health, business, sustainability, and other fields for the high school class of 2020. In this class, high school graduates can explore their career options and discover the education and training needed to reach their goals. Participating students will earn credit toward a college degree and may have opportunities to earn additional scholarships. This free, online class begins soon. Find info here.
Seed & Serve Hawaiʻi
K-12 youth across Hawaiʻi are invited to participate in Seed and Serve Hawaiʻi, a youth at-home gardening campaign to grow the next generation of sustainability leaders across our islands. Students, families, schools, and youth-serving organizations can register to receive a seed packet to begin growing their own at-home garden (1 packet per student). Gardening and growing food is a clear path forward to growing sustainable, peaceful and healthier communities. Register at bit.ly/seedandserve.
Blue Planet’s Climate Crew
Blue Planet Foundation is currently accepting applications for their third Climate Crew cohort. Fifteen Oahu-based high school students will be selected for this four-month program which focuses on learning the latest climate science and data-driven advocacy tools. The program starts with a mandatory, two-day training workshop in July. Deadline to apply is Sunday, June 14.
Hawai‘i Youth Food Council
Are you a responsible, enthusiastic high school student with a passion for food, nutrition, and agriculture? The importance of sustainable food systems is becoming increasingly clear, and this is your opportunity to make a difference during the 2020-2021 school year. Mālama ʻĀina Field School
Mālama Learning Center is recruiting current 7th-10th grade student applicants and their ʻohana who are interested in participating in the Mālama ʻĀina Field School together. (Preference given to residents of the Waiʻanae moku.) This modified program will be held in 2-week sessions during June 22 - July 17, 2020 and will run as a hybrid enrichment program conducting online learning/lessons and huakaʻi to approved sites. Camp Erdman is an ideal place for team building, environmental education and leadership programs. Its gorgeous natural setting, ample meeting areas, quality food service and a variety of activities are the perfect spot for enjoying the summer! The Hawaiʻi Nature Center, Maui & Oʻahu
Hawai‘i Nature Center’s week-long Nature Adventure Camps are led by expert environmental educators who specialize in outdoor exploration with hands-on education.
