We acknowledge that this school year is much different than any other, however we know that art has the power to bring people together and create opportunities for meaningful conversations about things that affect our lives, like plastic pollution. Our Plastic Free Hawaiʻi School Mural Contest is a way to encourage those conversations via face-to-face or distance learning, using art as the medium. 

THEME - This yearsʻ theme is UNITY! We ask participants to create a mural that showcases how working together can have a greater positive impact towards solving plastic pollution. 

DETAILS - Entries must be submitted  with a entry form and photos by March 26, 2021. Click here for entry form and complete details.

NEED INSPIRATION? 

• Kick off your project by collecting bottle caps, marine debris, and other found objects via a beach cleanup, campus cleanup, waste audit, or a recycling drive. 
• If this is a group project, have individual students complete a brainstorm sketch for the mural then work as a team to merge ideas into one collaborative project. Consider dividing mural into sections and that students can work on independently to support physical distancing as needed. Students and school groups (K-12) are eligible to participate.
