Upcoming 3R School Recycling Drives

The 3Rs School Program

The 3Rs School Program empowers students to engage and educate their school community about the 3Rs (reduce-reuse-recycling). The program supports on-campus recycling efforts by working with schools to strategize collection and redemption options and hosts twice a month 3Rs School Recycling Drives at select 3Rs participating schools across O’ahu, with host schools receiving proceeds from recycled material.

All About Recycling on Oʻahu

Published May 2020: Esther Chan is a recent 8th grade Punahou School graduate. Esther was inspired by a Plastic Free Hawaiʻi presentation and wanted to use her Girl Scout Silver Award project as an opportunity to educate Oʻahu on the right way to recycle, ensuring that as many materials as possible get recovered. Working with Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation and the C&C of Honolulu Recycling Branch, Esther put together a local recycling guide that focuses on reducing contamination. Putting the wrong items in the recycling bin actually creates more trash and less true recycling. Great job, Esther! Download Today ⬇️
