Books, Games, & Puzzles Swap at the Kōkua General Store

Join us in the Kōkua General Store on Saturday, June 1st from 10am-3pm to swap gently-used books, games, and puzzles with the community!

Why Book, Game, and Puzzle Swaps?

  • This is our first Books, Games, and Puzzles Swap at Kōkua General Store! We strive to encourage reusing and extending the lifespan of our items. Swaps reduce landfill waste and help rehome pre-loved items!

When and where do I bring my books, games, and puzzles to swap?

  • We ask that you bring your gently-loved, good condition books, games, and puzzles to the Kōkua General Store between Friday, May 24th through Friday, May 31st during regular store hours, so our staff can organize all donations prior to the event.

Drop Off:

66-249 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712

Wednesday-Thursday, 11am-5pm

Friday-Saturday, 10am-3pm

Can I bring books/games/puzzles the day of the event?

  • Please drop off your items before the day of the event, as setup and organization needs to happen in advance by our staff. Mahalo for your understanding!

How many books/games/puzzles can I swap?

  • You can bring as many books/games/puzzles as you like, but we ask that you only swap/take home a maximum of 5 items. This is a community event, and we want to ensure that everyone who participates has the opportunity to find something they love.

What kinds of books/games/puzzles are you accepting?

  • We are accepting gently-loved books/games/puzzles in good condition in all genres and ages ranges, including keiki books! We are not accepting severely damaged books (ripped out pages, falling apart spines, badly stained, etc). We are also not accepting books with explicit, suggestive, or gory images. Please make sure to only bring complete puzzles and games (please do not bring puzzles or games with missing pieces!).

What if I don’t bring books/games/puzzles to the swap but I see something I like?

  • No problem, you will be able to purchase swap items for $5.00 each. All proceeds will go to Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation.

What happens to the leftover books, games, and puzzles?

  • Books, games, and puzzles not swapped will be added to the Kōkua Vintage racks with 100% of proceeds going to support Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, or our new KHF Little Free Library! Other leftover items will be donated to local schools, charities and nonprofits.
